Frequently Asked Questions.

What type of massage therapy do you offer?

I specialise in clinical and sports massage, alongside therapeutic treatments designed to reduce pain, improve movement, and support overall wellbeing. Treatments include clinical massage, sports massage, deep tissue massage, Balinese massage, Indian head massage, and holistic massage. Each session is directed towards where your body needs the most attention on the day.

Who are your treatments suitable for?

My treatments are suitable for a wide range of people, including desk workers, runners, gym‑goers, less active individuals, and older adults. I also regularly support clients living with chronic or complex conditions, such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.

What is clinical massage?

Clinical massage focuses on assessing and treating musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. It uses advanced soft tissue techniques to help reduce pain, improve mobility, and support recovery from injury or long‑standing issues.

How is sports massage different from clinical massage?

Sports massage is often used to support training, performance, and recovery, as well as injury prevention. Clinical massage is more assessment‑led and may be more appropriate for persistent pain or complex conditions. In practice, techniques often overlap, and I’ll recommend what’s most appropriate for you.

Do I need to be an athlete to have a sports massage?

Not at all. Sports massage is suitable for anyone with physically demanding activities or movement‑related aches and pains, whether that’s running, gym training, gardening, or repetitive work tasks.

Can massage help with chronic pain conditions?

Yes. Massage therapy can play a supportive role in managing chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and long‑term musculoskeletal pain. Treatments are always adapted to your tolerance, symptoms, and energy levels.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your first session includes a short consultation to discuss your medical history, current symptoms, and goals. This is followed by a tailored massage treatment and advice where appropriate. Ongoing treatment plans may be suggested, but there’s no obligation.

Is massage painful?

Massage should never feel unbearable. Some techniques may feel intense, particularly during clinical or deep tissue work, but pressure is always adjusted to suit you. Communication during your session is encouraged.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on your condition, goals, and how your body responds. Some people feel improvement after one session, while others benefit from a short course of treatments or regular maintenance massage.

Are you a sole practitioner?

Yes. London Massage Practice is run entirely by myself, Cheryl Pierre, a qualified clinical and sports massage therapist. This means you’ll always see the same therapist, with continuity of care and a personalised approach.

Where are you based?

I’m based in Bromley, Greater London. Full location and booking details can be found on the contact page of the website.

What should I wear for my massage?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Depending on the treatment area, you may be asked to remove certain clothing, but you will always be appropriately draped and your comfort respected.

Is massage safe?

Massage is generally very safe. If you have any medical conditions, injuries, or are unsure whether massage is appropriate, please let me know in your consultation form so the treatment can be adapted.

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments can be booked directly through the website. If you’re unsure which treatment is right for you, feel free to get in touch and I’ll be happy to advise.

Do you offer advice or exercises?

Where appropriate, I may offer simple self‑care advice or exercises to support your treatment and help maintain results between sessions.
